Aviation Repair Technologies company to locate at the old Blytheville Air Force Base

On Saturday, my family and I went to a birthday party in Jackson,Tn for one of my clients daughters. While there, my wife and I met a lady who lives and works in Blytheville,Arkansas and she asked me if I heard about the new company coming to Blytheville. I told her no but I would research it.

I just found an article online discussing the new industry coming to Blytheville. This article is written in the Arkansas Business.com website by Mark Friedman.

This new plant is expected to cost about $20,000,000 and projected to hire between 310 and 440 workers within 3 years. The average pay is projected to be $20 an hour.

The location for this new venture is the Arkansas Aeroplex(old Blytheville Air Force Base) where there is a very nice 10,000+ ft long runway. Sometimes I practice IFR approaches into this runway. I assume that this will no longer be allowed once they start construction.

The lady I was talking to about this said she wished all these employees would relocate in and around Blytheville but she knew that many would choose to live in Dyersburg,Tennessee because of the excellent housing, schools, shopping and doctors.

Dyersburg will indeed benefit tremendously from many of these new workers choosing to live in the Dyersburg area. As I have said in many posts in the past, Dyersburg is by far the relocation choice of many people working in the Blytheville area.

I plan to return here with more information as it becomes available!

Plans off for new steel mill in Blytheville

A few days ago Warren Fabricating & Machining corporation made an announcement that due to economic conditions they are postponing the construction of a new plant in Blytheville,Arkansas.

I recently talked to an engineer who attended the meeting in Nashville when the State of Tennessee met with Warren Fabricating concerning tax incentives for locating in Tennessee(Cates Landing).

It was announced a few days later that Warren had picked Blytheville because of incentives offered by Arkansas but right after that it was announced that the plans were off.

My source(engineer) told me these people really wanted to go to Cates Landing but all the funding has not been secured so Cates Landing might not be completed as quick as originally planned.

I really believe Warren is waiting for the infrastructure to be in place at Cates Landing and then they will "renegotiate" with the State of Tennessee and announce their intent to build a new plant here in Tennessee at Cates Landing.
