update for coming restaurants and business picking up!
Just got off the phone with city officials to confirm the new restaurants coming to Dyersburg. Lupo's(Italian restaurant) is having their grand opening on July 30,2007.
They are located just off hwy 51 bypass(just down from Dyersburg High school).
Also opening on July 30 is Little Caesar's pizza. They are located in the new addition to Green Village shopping center(also on Hwy 51 bypass). Personally I prefer the pizza and great service at Papa John's (in Green Village).
Also under construction and slated to open Sept. 1 is Popeye's Chicken. That will be located on hwy 51 bypass near the Ford Dealership.
There are also two restaurants relocating. Hog Heaven has left the bypass and gone to Shelby Drive and Gus's chicken is slated to leave south town and move into Green Village.
Now, in my last post I discussed the current slow down in our real estate market. For the last week, we have been covered up with people wanting to relocate either from out of state or locally. Many of the local plants and some outside of Dyersburg are still bringing in staff who are purchasing homes. Because of the dynamics of Dyersburg, most of these transferees want to live in Dyersburg. Dyersburg,Tennessee is growing, growing, growing.

buyers market now
For the last 90 days we have seen our market change from a sellers market to a buyers market. We are experiencing the same market slowdown that we are hearing about across the country. For the last two-three weeks, the phones have been really quiet.
Then about two days ago, the phones started ringing. We are getting floods of calls for rentals and some people wanting to look at homes to buy. I believe people are ending their vacations and thinking again about moving.
We are hearing about several new restaurants coming to Dyersburg. Also, area businesses and industries are still doing well. Dyersburg is definitely growing and lots of people relocating to our area. My friend Jimmy Cooper(another realtor) called me yesterday and said he just had a request from a company wanting to rent 30 apartments for workers they have coming in. I personally own 37 units(houses and apts) and they are all full-and we manage several more units for other people. I would be very surprised if that company finds that many empty apartments.
We may be in a buyers market right now, but I am still bullish long term on Dyersburg.

business great and great buy on 3 br 2 ba foreclosure
The back to school rush is on to be in a house by the time school starts back. We are showing alot of homes and getting contracts signed.
I have been writing about the B-paper collapse here in our area and I wanted to mention a home I have listed that is a bank foreclosure. The home is located at 65 Kirk Circle in Finley area in a newer subdivision. This home was built in 2004 and is in great condition. This is a great neighborhood. I just sold my niece a home in this area 2 months ago. She paid $80,000 for about the same size home.
This foreclosure is just reduced to $73,900. Where else in Dyersburg can you get a almost new 1231 heated sq ft home in great neighborhood with 3 bedroom and 2 baths?
For someone wanting a deal and a home to live in, it doesn't get much better than this. Move in with up to $10,000 equity.
