Another new factory announces for Dyersburg,Tn area

The headlines on Fridays State Gazette newspaper reads,"Newbern Lands Briggs & Stratton".
Outdoor Equipment Giant To Invest $22 million In Former Honeywell Building;Jobs Ramping Up In June For Production Start This Fall.

According to Laura Timms, public relations chief at the company's Milwaukee, Wisconsin global headquarters, we expect to be in the building(in Newbern,Tn) by June 2007 and production beginning in early fall. Other sources revealed that other new Briggs & Stratton plants started with about 100 employees(initially) and ramped up within a few years to count several hundred workers. Newbern is a small town located about 8 miles northeast of Dyersburg.

Here are the current locations of other plants within this company and the number of hourly workers.

Auburn,Alabama 625 hourly employees
Murray,Kentucky 870 hourly employees
Poplar Bluff, Missouri 845 hourly employees
Rolla, Missouri 635 hourly employees
Statesboro, Georgia 330 hourly employees
Wauwatosa, Wisconson 950 hourly employees


This is exciting news for the residents of Dyersburg,Newbern and all of Dyer County. This is the second plant to announce relocating here(in last 3 months). You will continue to see other plants and businesses relocate here because of the business climate here, availability of skilled labor, access to major highways, waterways and of course I155,I55,I40 and of course the new I69 coming right through Dyer County.
