Possible Toyota plant near Dyersburg?

The Wall Street Journal last week quoted an anonymous source stating that the Alamo,Tn megasite is in the running for a new Toyota plant location. In addition to the Crockett County site, another Tennessee city- Chattanooga is considered on the short list. Marion, Arkansas is also on that short list.

Currently, Nashville,Tn is the headquarters of the Nissan Motors-North America operation. Nissan and General Motors both currently have automotive assembly plants in Tennessee.

Former governor Ned Ray McWherter(in my opinion) did more for Tennessee preparing our infrastructure(roads and highways) and getting us ready for the automotive industry. And here locally, former mayor Bill Revell worked tirelessly to get the interstate built through this area.

With Alamo(Crockett County) on the route of future I69 and just a few miles from I40, they are a great location for an automotive assembly plant. And just like Blytheville,Arkansas the different plants provide jobs to Dyer Countians and most of the plant workers live in Dyersburg,Tennessee.

The Dyersburg State Gazette also wrote an article in Friday's paper also quoting the Wall Street Journal article.
