January 2010 vs January 2009 market report

In an earlier post I promised to return here to crunch the numbers for the Dyersburg real estate market for the month of January verses the same period one year ago.

Quantity of Units Sold 8 in Jan 2010 vs 10 in Jan 2009 (which is a decrease of 20%)

Volume Sold $635,400 in Jan 2010 vs $1,169,500 in Jan 2009 (this is a decrease of 46%)

Average Sales Price $79,425 in Jan 2010 vs $116,950 in Jan 2009 (this is a decrease of 32%)

Quantity Active 150 units in Jan 2010 vs 211 in Jan 2009 (this is a decrease of 29%) (this is a good sign)

According to these numbers, the Dyersburg Real Estate market is still weak. In a previous post we indicated that the 2009 numbers were below 2008 numbers but we had a slight rebound in December verses a year ago. Because of that rebound I promised to analyze the January numbers. One factor that could have affected sales in January was the snow storm we had. Business absolutely shut down as did other businesses and all the schools. Actually all the schools are still out today.
