Dyersburg Real Estate Statistics For January 2012
In my last statistics for Dyersburg real estate 2011 post, we indicated a nice surge in real estate activity for the last two months of 2011.
I was rather curious how January 2012 stacks up against January a year ago. Here are the numbers within our MLS:
Dyersburg real estate volume up 37% over January 2011. Average sales price $109,392 vs $79,700 for 2011
Quantity active dropped 19%.
Dyer County real estate volume up 367% over January 2011. Average sales price $124,711 vs $60,100 for 2011
Quantity active dropped 18%.
Newbern real estate volume up 28% over January 2011. Average sales price $120,000 vs $140,500 for 2011
Quantity active dropped 28%.
Here is my opinion as to what these numbers mean. The Dyersburg area real estate market is definitely on the rebound. The outlying areas like Newbern, the county and other areas are also now beginning to show new life.
Prices are still relatively low and the economy is slowly beginning to recover. Interest rates are still at historic lows so now may be the best time to purchase. Call or text Mike at 731-589-7841 to begin your next home search.

Final Residential Sales Numbers For Dyersburg 2011
As promised, here are the final Dyersburg real estate residential sales numbers for 2011.
First of all let me give you our December 2011 residential sales numbers for just Dyersburg. Last year, Dyersburg's December residential sales were $711,800 verses our 2011 December sales of $1,963,631. That is an increase of 176%. And remember, all of our expected December closing didn't happen. I personally have 2 sales that will probable close this week that were supposed to close in December. My agents also have some of those also as I am sure is the case across the entire MLS.
Now lets compare Dyersburg residential sales for all of 2011 verses Dyersburg residential sales for all of 2010. Last year(2011) residential sales were $13,891,435 and 2010 they were $9,999,708 for an increase of 39%.
Looking further into the sales figures for our entire MLS, Dyer County was off 3% for the entire year verses 2010(this does not include Dyersburg,Trimble or Newbern).
Newbern was off 40% for 2011 residential sales verses 2010.
From all this data, we can see that the City of Dyersburg is beginning to turn the corner for real estate sales but the county and outlying cities are still having trouble.

How's the Real Estate Business doing in Dyersburg,Tennessee?
I have 8 or 10 people a day ask me how the real estate business is in Dyersburg. My response is we are booming but ask me again after this tax credit period ends this Friday night.
In addition to our clients chasing the tax credit money, we still have alot of people chasing good deals in the foreclosure market. I am seeing a slight decline in the foreclosures hitting the market here.
My guess is that our business will fall off some after tomorrow but should continue to be better than this time last year.
